About Us

The club that refused to quit.

When we lost our courts, most clubs would have folded. We started planning something bigger.

Our Story

Port Macquarie Squash Club has been part of the local sporting landscape for decades. But when we lost access to our dedicated courts, we faced a choice: dissolve the club or find another way.

We chose to keep going. We found borrowed courts, built a competition schedule around limited access, and started dreaming bigger than just getting by.

Today we run a weekly competition, maintain an active membership, and are developing a four-phase plan to build the Mid North Coast's first purpose-built squash facility.

The Hard Truth

We Lost Courts. We Lost Players.

In 2019, Port Macquarie had dedicated squash facilities. By 2024, they were gone. 40% of our players left. Kids who could have picked up a racquet never got the chance. The sport that teaches strategy, fitness, and resilience — disappeared.

This isn't unique to us. Across regional Australia, squash is dying. Courts close. Communities move on. A sport that once had 1 million Australian players is being forgotten.

But we're not giving up. We're building back.

Our Ambition

Bring Squash Back

Restore a world-class sport to Port Macquarie and prove that regional communities can do it too.

Grow Participation

Get kids playing again. Within 20 years, develop an Australian-ranked top-10 world squash player.

Create a Blueprint

Build a replicable model that other regional clubs can follow — proving size and location don't matter.

Reclaim Tier-1 Status

Make squash a tier-1 sport in Australia again, like it was in the 1980s when 1M+ Australians played.

About Squash

Squash is the world's #1 healthiest sport (ranked by Forbes). It builds explosive power, cardio fitness, and mental agility. A game that rewards strategy as much as athleticism.

The Olympic moment: Squash enters the Paris 2028 Olympics. This is the biggest opportunity for the sport in decades. Australia has a chance to be part of the global revival.

The legacy:In the 1980s, over 1 million Australians played squash. The sport shaped a generation. Today, we're working to bring that back.
